Hey, folks!

Dreams do come true - My dear friend, Celeste & I are going on tour! For those of you who know, Celeste and I facilitated our first eco-grief café in Nogojiwanong-Peterborough in December, 2024 after the Community Race Relations Committee and the Centre for Gender and Social Justice reached out. The café addressed ecological and political grief amongst QTBIPOC communities and was a brave place for folks to process together. After that first grief café, Celeste and I knew we wanted to take it on tour so others could feel into this sacred container.

We are grateful for grants from Ocean Wise, TakingITGlobal, and The Social Planning Council of Ottawa to make this work possible.

“The Eco-Grief Cafés are community-rooted and spiritually intentional gathering spaces for QTBIPOC youth to process the emotional realities of living through climate crisis, displacement, genocide, burnout, many isms (including facism), and collective uncertainty, together. The cafés are soft places to land. Spaces where grief is celebrated and invited into the room with us, as evidence of our love and connection to the Earth, our ancestors, and to the futures we are trying to protect. Each gathering blends conversation, a tea ceremony, cultural practices (i.e. yoga), knowledge sharing, reflection and community care.

Youth are encouraged to trace their roots and lineages, mapping the knowledge, traditions and people that shape them. Through wellness rituals and teachings around grief and land-connectedness, this initiative seeks to alchemize emotional overwhelm and loss into collective agency and action, fuelling our movements for social and political change forward.”

We are so honoured and blessed to be facilitating these cafés. If you know any youth in the cities above, please feel free to pass along our information so they might join us.
