Restoring, Healing, Being
therapeutic resources+offerings
Hey there, dreamer!
I heard the newest trend is to read newsletters while on the toilet, so if that’s where you are right now, consider yourself trendy!
Now that that’s outa the way, let’s move on to a mini storytime.
Back in late 2021, I had two therapists, a talk therapist and a yoga therapist. Racial trauma had re-surfaced, I was working in a front facing customer service role with people who didn’t believe in science, and my body was holding on to a lot of grief. Extra support was necessary. I made changes to my budget, so I could access resources. Fortunately, both my therapist and yoga therapist offered sliding scale. I wouldn’t have been able to process everything that was happening with my mind, body, and spirit if it wasn’t for these supports.
Sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to receive support in our healing journey. I view healing as restoring to our inherent nature. We’re not fucked up, the systems in place are fucked up. And, it’s okay to seek assistance in dealing with everything that comes with that.
How might we disrupt these systems in our own way?
My journey has led me here in a position of being able to provide support while offering trades and sliding scale yoga therapy. I disrupt by honouring my role in collective liberation by sharing yogic knowledge to those who resonate and feel called to these rich practices.
Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.
If you have the opportunity to heal in communion with me, I will be facilitating a yoga practice at Root & Rise Retreat from May 1-3.
“This retreat was created for queer folks of all racial and cultural backgrounds who want to imagine new ways of building community outside of the constraints of colonial capitalism. We are committed to cultivating a sober-friendly, trauma-informed, and accessibility-conscious space where everyone feels genuinely welcomed and supported.”
There are many amazing beings out there doing the good work in their own way. Some of which I have listed below.
Ta ta for now. Keep dreaming of a different world for all of us!
My former Yoga Therapist, Cassie, has a free resource library. I am so grateful for her and the work she does.
Stefanie of Zhawenim Wellness is an Indigenous RMT and Reiki Healer. I have gone to her for massage therapy and craniosacral therapy with added Reiki. She has a healing touch and we’ve shared beautiful conversation.
My friend, Carly is the founder and lead instructor at PTBO Pilates. Carly is a phenomenal pilates instructor who makes each session fun! Pilates has been a great resource for me to experience functional movement in my body.
Heather offers menstrual and menopause support and education, reflexology, and Reiki in a beautiful space. Her work is a gift to the Nogo-Ptbo community.
Nerusha: [email protected], is a Sri Lankan Reiki Healer, tarot reader, and intuitive who provides loving presence during each session.
